Yoga Nidra

Savasana was always my favorite part of yoga. When I learned there was actually a style of yoga that centers around relaxation, I was in.

If you are looking for serious relaxation, Yoga Nidra can help. It is a deeply restorative style of yoga that leads you into a state of consciousness between being awake and asleep, also known as yogic sleep. This technique helps to promote deep rest and relaxation through a detailed progressive relaxation of your body and breath awareness. This effectively calms your nervous system, releases stress and can be a natural sleep solution.

During a session, you will usually lie down on your back in a savasana pose, using any and all props (cushions, blankets, pillows/bolsters) to help you feel completely relaxed and comfortable. You may even enjoy using an eye mask.

Once the meditation begins, all you need to do is simply close your eyes, remain still and listen. If your mind begins to wander, just bring your attention back to the voice guiding you. Sometimes, people fall asleep, no worries there. Your unconscious mind will continue to absorb the benefits.
